Cooler temps

Don't these cooler temps get you thinking about deer or moose hunting? The best time of the year will be upon us in no time.

It does accelerate the feeling for me, I think about hunting almost everyday because I hunting. I can't wait for moose to open as I hope to take a calf at least, then it will be bow hunting for bear or deer what ever comes out first.

I have already started hunting with the opening of duck season. I went out to the marsh today and came back with a woodie and a b.w.teal. Not the best harvest but they will be tasty. It was a bluebird day and the local birds were just not moving much. It will be a while before the northerners start coming down so we will likely concentrate on field hunting ducks and geese. We have a few grain and corn fields lined up if we can ever get some dry weather so they can be harvested. As for moose hunting I am looking forward to it but am not sure what I am going to do yet. My group didn't get an adult tag so they are just hunting around home on weekends and it is too far for me to go to join them for that. Time to make a few phone calls. Worst comes to worst I'll grab my tent, my quad and my rifle and go it alone. It wouldn't be the first time.

Its sure gets you looking ahead with anticipation. I've got my holidays book, first week of Oct. to hopefully nail a mature buck before he goes nocturnal and the week of Nov. 21 - 25 , which is apparently the peak of the rut this year because of the late moon in Nov.
It would be nice to nail a bear before than.
