I just purchased a new Ameristep Backstrap hub blind. Features are rugged hub wall design, 9 shoot through mesh window openings, quiet toggle window closures, carbon enhanced Shadowguard interior, covered in Realtree AP camouflage. Dimensions 65"H x 63" W
X 65" D. I plan on getting it setup in my hunting area in time for turkey season. I will post pics when I get the blind brushed in.

I got my blind setup for a turkey hunt last Sunday. Real easy to setup and take down. I hunted the afternoon with the crossbow but no turkey sightings. It sure is nice hunting in comfort Very Happy . I put the blind in this spot just for the turkey hunt and will be setting it up permanently in a spot near by for deer.

They sure are nice to hunt from, especially for deer. I have one and put a Buddy heater in it and you are nice and warm/dry all day. I usually put some fresh cut balsm fir branches on it to break up the outline and the smell of them helps with scent contol. I have had deer within a couple feet of the blind and payed it no attention. One thing you may want to get for it is the gun rest that clamps to the poles in front of your main shooting hole. You can just use the hole for a rest but the padded bar is much better. Happy hunting!

Thanks for the tips 4ST. I bought a buddy heater on sale last year so it will be nice to be warm and toasty for deer hunting. I'm going to use a trip-pod to rest my crossbow on. I plan on leaving the blind up, do you close and black out your shooting windows that you shoot from, when not in use, to get the deer use to the dark openings?

I usually leave the camo mesh over the windows and only open the windows covering my shooting lanes. I have shooting ports in my windows so no need to shoot up the screen. I also do not open two windows across from each other so you always have a black back ground so minor movements shouldn't be noticed. One other thing I like to do is place my blind against an evergreen and add some boughs along the edges of the window to break up the out line of the opening. This of course is when there are conifers in the area. For your location I would use some grass or brush by the windows and blind edges. Hope this helps. It is a little more time consuming but I believe the little tweeks help.

I've got lots of evergreen to work with in another spot so I will be sure to brush it in well . Thanks again.

Got the blind set up today. Just have to clear some shooting lanes and brush the blind in some more.

Brushed in and shooting lanes cut. The shooting windows are black and are closed. This is to get the deer  used to the dark spots for when the windows are actually open for hunting.

Checked on the blind Sept.1 and it was ok. I will stay away now until the big day.
