Last year somebody was running their dogs through my hunting area ( Smicoe County Forest 76C ) for the Controlled deer hunt. Several laws being broken here but nobody seems to care. I realize that these guys have thousands of dollars invested in these dogs but if I see a dog run by me this deer season, I will shoot it.

I haven't had it happen to me but my cousin did about 25km from me. I hunt on private property in 82A and your solution would work for me, not that the owners would be welcome to enter our farm to look for their dogs LOL.. You are right, there are several offences there and I the CO in that area, he would take an interest in putting an end to that, particularly in a County Forest.

I have reconsidered my course of action if a dog where to come by me in this situation and that is not to shoot, but to report the loose dog sighting to the MNR. It's just so frustrating when you see this going on.

I hate seeing them in the woods and have actually had them come right up to one of the guys I hunt with... friendly but not welcome. In our case, these are dogs from the property. We ask the property owner to keep his dogs kenneled when we are hunting... a couple of times they were let out too soon and most of the time when we're not there, they're running around.

I went bow hunting one night after work and just got sitting when I heard a dog not too far off. Next I seen a buck jump the fence and come towards me. I was sitting on the ground and that buck was only 2 feet from me when I shot it. I didn't even have the bow up to my shoulder, it was a hip shot. That was almost 20 years ago but I'll never forget that. So, you never know when a dog might add a little excitement.
This year, I'd probably welcome a dog to run through the bush. The deer just aren't moving at all in the daylight hours. Haven't even had a pic for two weeks. Sure would like to see some snow, about 6 inches.

Hmmm... not sure I want wait and see. My season has gone to the dogs. All my trail cam pics are of these dogs and a couple at night. It has been really bothering me and we had to cut our hunt short on the weekend because of them. I hate to ask the owner to keep them in every time I let him know we're hunting his property. They need to be outside as well. At the same time, we have seen nothing since the opener. We found some great trails and good signs on our walk out... this is on the other side of their place. We want to hunt it but are afraid of the dogs ruining that area as well. This area is closer to the house but so far the dogs don't go there. Once they find out we're in there, they'll want to come find us. Felt like I finally found a good place to hunt and now this...
