Went for a hunt after work tonite. Just sat on the ground in a bunch of red cedars leaning against one. I don't have a stand in there and most of the trees are too small for one. I had a smoke and then gave a few grunts. About 10 minutes later gave a few more. A couple of minutes later I heard something in the brush a little ways from me and thought a deer had seen me moving and took off. But , I gave one more grunt. Out of nowhere, a buck stepped out in front of me. No time to study him but he sure looked big so I took the shot. 12 yards! He dropped on the spot. The arrow went up and through his backbone. I was only about 100 yards off the highway, good thing cause I couldn't seem to get him on my deer cart so my buddy came and helped me drag him out. Got him home and he weighed 218 lbs. dressed out.

Right on Steve, nice buck. He is a heavy looking deer. Congrats.
You have a pm.

Love your hunting technique Steve. No one can argue with the results. Great buck.

Yea Tracer, I guess I'm addicted lol I smoke a lot on stand and had to put one out many a time when a deer was coming. You really need a good wind though;)

Nice big deer. Many times I have had to put down my smoke when a deer walked in. A couple times I have even shot them with it hanging out the side of my mouth when I couldn't safely put it down. I think the scent of the smoke is better than human scent to them but you do have to play the wind.
