I like to make my own soup stews and stock doing this can produce fat on the top of liquid. Two methods work very well one is fast fix the other slow.

METHOD ONE
1. Remove pot from heat
2. tear paper towel strips into four squares [ as much as you need ]
3. have a container, bowl, plate, ect ready beside pot
4. drop paper towel square on top of liquid leave about 1-2 seconds pick it back up, discard repeating as nessasary. Keep in mind the liquid is hot you can use tongs for this or your fingers if you are quick.
METHOD TWO
This is what I do if I am makeing ahead of time
1. place in fridge for at least two hours, longer if you do not cool recipe first over nite is best, when cooled simply lift off fat with a sloted spoon and discard or if its that time of year place in bird feeder.
