2/3 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
1 15 oz can of pumpkin
4 eggs well beaten
3 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground cloves
2 tsps cinnamon
Optional 1/2 cup any chopped unsalted nuts or pumpkin seeds not chopped.
cream the shortening and sugar.add pumpkin and well beaten eggs.sift the dry ingrediants together and stir into pumpkin mixture.add nuts if wanted.
pour evenly into three 4 by 7 inch greased baking pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until tooth pick comes out clean.enjoy
