PostSubject: White Dutch Clover   White Dutch Clover Icon_minitimeThu Jun 06, 2013 9:21 pm

Last weekend we cleared some of the cedar brush left lying on the ground from when the logger cleared out the cedar bush on the farm. So we cleared the logs and brush right to the ground near one of our new stands creating some lanes we hope the deer will use (it was 12-18" deep in some places - which explains why the deer wouldn't move through it). I spread some White Dutch Clover on the ground that I bought at the local farm / feed supply store in the newly cleared lanes, we are going to add some turnips as well. I saw the tracks of deer already using the lanes, so I hope that the seed takes. I will post some pics as it matures.

I put in a feeder in March & I have had to reload it 3 times now. My brother set up his game camera on the feeder, but has only captured pics of a racoon and squirrel so far, LOL. I'll get some pictures up when we get some.

I'm really happy with the food plot I've put down this year  The truth is I wasn't sure about doing it but after seeing the results from this little patch, I'm sold! Bring on huntin' season!

The plots coming on strong now. The heat, humidity, and rain we've been getting sure has helped the cause.

Lots of food for the deer now. It should get the deer coming to the dinner bell.

Looks great Ned. I am just curious if you put down any lime or fertilizer. What make of camera is that ? How far away is the nearest ag. field ?

To answer your questions, no I didn't put any lime on it. I put my old bushnell camera I've had it for about 10 yrs & it uses 4 D batteries. The nearest crops are about 1km away, corn about a concession rd away - so there isn't much that is really close.

Once the deer find it, it should be just like a magnet. Looks good.
