Friday evening, Nov. 8 at Deer Camp
In my ladder stand, 25 yards from my brothers mock scrape set up, by 4:00pm all was quiet, slight s/w wind in my favour. I hit the grunt call one long and 2 short. About 25 minutes later, in comes a buck straight to me 40 yards and closing fast. He turned towards the group of trees with
mock scrape and licking branch, slowing his pace at 25 yards I stopped him with a "mee'" and squeezed the trigger of my Remmy 270 and he did the classic donkey kick.
I recovered him 50 yards away, a nice young 8 pointer.
My first deer taken with a rifle, many thanks to my brother
Dave for a great set up for this hunt and a great
week at camp.
