Well I went out for the opener of ducks today (geese opened 10 days ago). The last 4-5 days have been rainy but today was a bluebird day. Great for the hunter but not for the hunting. Going into the lake (reservoir) we scared up a couple nice sized flocks that looked like teal and we could hear some mallards cackling in the marshy areas. Every thing looked promising but the weed beds were different from past years and it took us a while longer than normal to find our favorite little pocket. It had shrunk a fair bit but as time was not on our side we decided to set up anyways. As it turned out it didn't matter much because there was just not much moving. A pair of woodies came screaming across and I managed to drop the hen and a while later a lone blue winged teal came out of nowhere and I made a snap shot and dropped it. I usually don't bother shooting the teal but instinct took over and I did need enough ducks for a meal . A good sized flock of geese came over late but they had somewhere else on there mind and couldn't be enticed to come close enough for a shot. So went opening day. Hope you all did better and am looking forward to a few posts.

Thanks all, any day hunting is better than any day at wo..wo..wo.. Oh you know! I am now just waiting for a farmer friend to cut his corn and the geese to find the field. Oh ya, the ducks were great stir fried.
